Custom Pitch Lists & Using AI to Grow Capacity

Pat and James explore how well-targeted service providers and AI could do the leg work of agents for us, thus creating more capacity for us to do our creative work.

James signed up for a service that reads a short story then suggests a list of literary journals from the provider’s curated database that are a good fit for the story. This got the Gifted Underachievers to wonder what role AI might play in this service, how it does the leg work of an agent, and whether it and services like it could free up time from repetitive tasks to focus on creative work.

Questions for Listeners:

  1. Do you use AI to help support your creative work?

  2. Do use any services—with AI or not—to handle low-value repetitive tasks?

  3. Is AI an evil, a benefit, or a mixed bag for the creative world?
