A Possible Upside of Losing US NEA/NEH Grants

Pat and James discuss whether the (disastrous) loss of federal grants in the US (NEA/NEH) may force media owners to better align with audience preferences.

There’s no sugarcoating it: president Douchebag Silverspoon’s gutting of federal grants for creatives is a massive loss for the arts in the US. We will become a worse, more impoverished country culturally and economically for it.

However, Pat and James—Gifted Underachievering and silver-lining their hearts out—wonder if perhaps this loss of funding will force media owners to better align their offerings to audiences. Maybe, just maybe, with a shoulder to the wheel and good old-fashioned organizing we could make something better out of this mess.

Nonetheless: always, always vote for justice and the arts.

Questions for Listeners:

  1. Have you lost a grant due to president Douchebag Silverspoon?

  2. If so, what’s the impact?

  3. Do you see a bright spot in this otherwise difficult landscape?
